When my Grandpa brought my brother and I to the beach for razor clam digging we would always believe him when he told us about the giant king salmon he tried to gaff. He would tell us of the wonderful gardens they had and the smoked salmon and deer meat that grandma canned and how grandma had to help out by driving school bus. I think if you could ask him now he would say those depression years in Grays Harbor were the best most abundant of their lives. I have seen a good amount of this world during my military service, as a missionary, as an air traffic controller and a long haul truck driver.
